James Plant – Parent Governor

I have been a self-employed barrister for almost 20 years. My day-to-day professional life revolves around advocacy, advice, negotiation, drafting legal documents and providing professional training. I specialise in Civil Law and am typically instructed in complex litigation on behalf of and/or against major insurance companies. I am ranked by the Legal 500 as a leading barrister, am a Middle Temple Harmsworth Scholar and I also sit on the Management Board of my Chambers where I am the joint Head of Sustainability.

While I practice out of a Chambers in London my roots are in this part of North Yorkshire. I grew up in a nearby village plus my family and I have lived close to Sutton on the Forest for the past 10 years. Further; I have a vested interest in the continuing success of this wonderful school and the community as both of my children are pupils here.

I hope this, my legal background and experience of engagement with a variety of stakeholders and institutions will stand me in good stead to help with the continuing effective governance of the school.
