Year 2/3 have really enjoyed our topic of “Super Scotland” so we decided to dedicate a whole day to celebrating St Andrew’s Day. The children all wore Scottish colours of blue and white and many even came dressed in kilts – everyone certainly looked the part!
We did lots of fun activities including designing our own family tartans, learning and writing about Saint Andrew and how he became a saint, using our maths skills to add and measure ingredients to make shortbread and we definitely enjoyed eating the finished biscuits! Mr Warriner organised some Scottish themed PE and the children all had a go at Scottish traditional dancing and Highland games sports.
Many of the children asked if we were going to be celebrating St Andrew’s day again next year, so I think they all had an exciting and memorable day!
