Year 2 and 3 have learned lots about light and shadows in our “Bright Sparks” topic this term. One of our favourite experiments we have done is investigating how shadows change.
We all managed to make the length of a shadow change by moving the light source closer and further away from different objects. Then we used a giant protractor and a domino to work out if the angle of the light source affected the shape or length of a shadow.
After much experimenting and careful measuring of the shadows we created, we found that the angle of the light source does change the length of shadows, just like the position of the sun change the length of our shadows at different times of the day!
