This week the Year 5 and 6 have been exploring 3D shapes.

We have been finding nets of a closed cube. There are officially 11 different combinations of ‘face’ arrangements. The children had to make sure that they didn’t double up – no reflections or rotations allowed! How many did everyone find?

We have also been building 3D shapes using Polydron and describing them in terms of number of faces, edges and vertices. We are using the Polydron to explore the nets of a variety of shapes – some of which have very long, complicated names!
