East Barnby 2016-a story-board of our fantastic week

Ten very excited children left Sutton on the Forest on Monday 23rd May for a week of outdoor adventures on the East Coast near Whitby. The sun was shining, SAT`s were over and we were in search of fun!

The first hurdle of the week was making their beds, some looked very interesting hopefully they will be so tired they won`t notice…

After a hot lunch we embarked on our first afternoon of activities;beck scramble for some of our children  and body surfing in the North Sea for others-it was fantastic, everyone had fun and some children went to bed saying that it was the best day they have ever had!

Day Two

Another bright sunny morning-all the children slept well and awoke ready for windsurfing, sailing and rock climbing.

The windsailing was a huge success-difficult to master but worth the endeavour. Sailing was hard work because of the weather, it turned really cold and the wind wasn`t really strong enough.

The long one and a half hour walk to the Wain Stones was worth the view from the top and the climbing was amazing-the children loved it.

Tonight we have been sledging on the dry ski slope, problem solving on the low ropes and mastering the night line. The children will not need much rocking tonight.

Evening Activities

On Monday evening the children completed an 4 orienteering courses around the centre. On Tuesday evening they sledged, went on the low ropes and completed the “night line”. The wet weather prevented us from having the campfire on Wednesday evening so we had a movie night and a fashion show…

Day Three

The weather was a bit wet today and too windy for sailing so some of the children did windsurfing and mountain biking instead. Other groups went canoeing down the River Esk. Another brillant day and the children are enjoying every minute.

Day Four

The weather was much better today-some of the children went rock-climbing others were canoeing. There are a lot of very tired faces but they are managing to find the energy to keep going-they are having so much fun. The entertainment evening was a huge success-I was so proud of all  our children who sang and danced their hearts out! Brilliant.

Day Five

A hectic morning stripping beds and packing suitcases but then mass excitement as we all set off for our last morning of activities: body surfing in the North Sea… and beck scrambling
