It has been a busy week this week in sports news, from England’s semi-final world cup match, to Roger Federer getting knocked out of Wimbledon to our own school sports day! With this in mind, years 2/3 became sports reporters on Friday and researched, wrote and performed their own mini sports report news bulletins, giving a round up of the week’s sporting stories.

The top story was England’s football semi-final, with many children giving a very detailed account of how the match went. Some children discussed Serena William’s spectacular return to Wimbledon after having a baby and there was even an interesting local cricket news report about the recent York vs Durham match! Our own Sutton sports day was documented well, with many children giving all the race results as part of their report!

Miss Hodkin was very impressed by everyone’s sports reporting and the excellent speaking and listening skills shown by the class – they are certainly well versed in how to shuffle their papers and say “and that’s the sports report, now back to the studio!”
