Year 2/3 have had an exciting time exploring different flowers today! Miss Roberts came in with a variety of colourful flowers and told us the names of each one and some really interesting facts about them too. We all had a good smell of the scented flowers and ate some peas from a pea pod!

We then dissected some carnations to look at all the different parts of the flower head. Some of the children couldn’t bear to cut open their carnations, so we also cut up some paper flowers to look at all the parts inside instead.

We had lots of good discussion about the different parts of a flower and took part in a very closely fought flower facts quiz to see who had learnt the most about flowers! Great science work everyone and a huge thank you to Miss Roberts for donating her time and lovely flowers for the whole afternoon.
